Improvement District (PBID)

The South Lake PBID Steering Committee is currently proposing the formation of a PBID in the South Lake District. Property and Business Improvement Districts (PBIDs) allow business districts to establish an assessment that generates crucial funding to support enhanced programming and services including maintenance, security, marketing and economic development.

A PBID allows property owners and business owners an opportunity to control their own destinies. A PBID creates a self-imposed, self-governed, fair share assessment on property within a defined geographic district. Proceeds from the assessment are used to provide services that specifically benefit those properties in the district. Ultimately, this will translate into a stronger economic base for businesses and increased property values for property owners in the district.

By working together as an economic partnership to realize common goals, a PBID will strengthen the role of South Lake Avenue as a commercial center for Pasadena and surrounding communities.
